Hello Everyone,
June is here and hopefully the consistent nice weather isn’t too far behind!
We are looking forward to long days outside, lots of water play and trips around
the neighbourhood, checking out the beach and various parks around the
neighbourhood. Please make sure to send your children with a lot of extra
clothing, including an extra pair of shoes because, here at Lakeside we love
getting wet and messy on hot summer days!
We would love to welcome Kristy to our Lakeside staff and family! Even in just
one week she has been a wonderful addition and has some great ideas to put
towards our programming. The children have been warming up to her quickly
which is so lovely to see! Do not hesitate to ask her any questions as she is
learning the ropes already! She has a ton of experience and her biography will be
up on our website within the next week or so, so please keep your eye out for
that!
In May, we did a lot of planting of beans, summer-oriented crafts and sensory and
have been discussing the importance of plants, bees and pollination for our
environment. Our children have had some great brainstorming on how we can
keep our planet healthy and growing and we can’t wait to hear what other
brilliant ideas they can come up with! Our preschoolers have been progressing so
wonderfully with their printing and we will be working on learning what words
start with the letters R,S,T and U (along with the toddlers) as well as practicing
printing those letters along with their names. We are going on to our 18 th week of
practicing our letters and we couldn’t be happier or more proud of our friends’
advancements in letter and sound recognition, letter formation ,pencil grasping
and the spelling of their names both orally and in printing. We have a lot of fun
science experiments, sensory and crafts in the works as well as working on some
Father’s Day gifts in the upcoming weeks that the kids are so excited about!
We had no birthdays in May, but June will certainly make up for that with four
birthdays coming up in the following weeks! We will of course celebrate these
milestones with yummy treats and lots of love!
Sadly, June will be the last month for several of our friends as they are going on to
embark on new adventures. We will be sure to give them the perfect send off and
they will be greatly missed.
In the coming weeks we will be planning our summer programming. We hope to
have a couple of bus field trips in there as well as trips to the library, new and
exciting parks and a few splash pads. We also hope to have an in-house guest or
two such as Birds of Prey or Zoo to You. We will of course have plenty of fun
theme days but please let us know if you have any ideas or anything you would
like to see on our summer calendars. We look forward to hearing from you!!
